About The Coalition Membership

The Coalition is guided by five core disciplines that engage in health and medical preparedness and response: Community Health Centers (10), EMS, Hospitals (13), Long Term Care (115) and Public Health (71). Emergency management is now a non-voting discipline. Many of these disciplines work across county lines to coordinate information sharing across the five counties of Region 5.

The Executive Committee will provide broad coalition oversight; provide guidance in choosing priorities for planning and preparedness; work closely with the HMCC staff to develop the Response Plan, Preparedness Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan that meets the needs of the Region 5 disciplines and communities. Some of the duties of the E.C. include purchasing equipment, planning and organizing training opportunities, liaison between MDPH and disciplines, situational awareness to stakeholders, completing HMCC deliverables and maximize surge capacity and capabilities

The core disciplines play a primary role in emergency preparedness and response in Region 5 due to their pre-existing relationships with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management (OPEM).  As the Coalition grows, it will seek other health and medical partners, such as dialysis centers, ambulatory care centers, behavioral health centers, etc. All healthcare entities are eligible to join the HMCC.
